SAE J2380-2009 Vibration Testing of Electric Vehicle Batteries
-----------
RATIONALE
SAE J2380 provides a test procedure for characterizing the effect of long-term, road-induced vibration and shock on the
performance and service life of electric vehicle batteries. For mature, production-ready batteries, the intent of the
procedure is to qualify the vibration durability of the battery. The vibration spectrum has been synthesized from
rough-road measurements is the late 1990s.
Vibration and shock tests are relevant to the new fleet of electric or hybrid electric vehicles that are being developed with
advanced battery technology.
