Now here, in Germany, the most popular topic about vehicle net is not CAN, it's TTCAN/Flexray, which is going to be used in X-by-Wire vehicle.
CAN is an asynchronised protocal, which means the communication is not predictable, totally driven by event. The advantage of this is flexbility. But in vehicle communication sometimes we also need determined, periodically communication, the so called synchronised communication, which can not be fulfilled very good in CAN.
TTCAN/Flexray is a protocal which combines asynchronised and synchronised communication. Both event driven and periodical communication can be achieved.
