System Engineer
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
FreeWheel is hiring a Cloud Systems Engineer based in our Beijing office who will report to the Manager of Global Systems. The ideal candidate will be part of the team responsible for supporting our 24x7 Global Video Ad Serving platform and corporate infrastructure (with POPs and offices in the U.S, Europe and China). He/She must be self-motivated and reliable and take on responsibilities around workflow automation and new technology evaluation
RESPONSIBILITIES:
oSupport production environment and corporate infrastructure with data centers and offices in US, EU and China.
oCollaborate with SRE, Engineering teams on implementation of best practices around Cloud.
oParticipate in PI Planning and architectural reviews as Cloud platform subject matter expert.
oDrive capacity planning process with SRE, Engineering teams to streamline request pipeline.
oParticipate in global support and scheduled maintenance work of systems infrastructure.
oTravel required up to 10% of the time to domestic and international locations.
ABOUT YOU:
oHave 5 years of work experience with a minimum of 2 years administering Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS preferred).
oProficiency with AWS compute, storage, networking, and management products
oProficiency in automating complex workflows using automation/orchestration tools such as Chef, Puppet, Cobbler, Saltstack
oExperience with Private Cloud platforms, OpenStack and KVM preferred.
oFamiliarity with Cloud orchestration tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform is a plus
oExperience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
oFamiliarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo
oFamiliarity with version control systems such as Git
oFamiliarity with binary repositories such as Yum, Artifactory
oProficiency in kernel optimization, OS security, and capacity planning
oKnowledge in monitoring/visualization tools such as Nagios, Grafana, ELK, Splunk
oExperience with Hadoop/ETL processing work flow is a plus.
oFamiliarity with HPE Proliant servers and 3Par storage is a plus.
oMust be flexible to take part in all systems team activity (i.e. data center work and on-call).
oB.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
