Job description:
What you will be doing as Customer Focus Development Engineer
Veritas Storage & SDS Engineering team is in search for a developer for Customer Focus Engineering for solving complex and challenging enterprise customer problems in Software Defined Storage space. As a subject matter expert, the developer will need to work closely with the customer support organization, sales, and the internal engineering stakeholders to deliver solutions on existing and emerging Storage products. Customer Focus Engineer will also take part in product software development .
Main responsibilities of Customer Focus Development Engineer:
Design, develop, and maintain Veritas's Storage products – Infoscale( Veritas File system,Veritas Volume Manager, VCS,Containers).
Participate in problem solving, developing code fixes, and providing timely resolution to customer reported problems in cloud, kernel and user space.
Collaborate with team members across functions and geographies in writing functional design, interface specifications, implementing prototypes, and demonstrating the same to Veritas customers.
Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Interface closely with global technical support, internal engineering, and QA teams for improving product quality, design, supportability, and customer experience aspects.
Anticipate problems and future technical needs and take necessary corrective steps to ensure they are addressed.
As a domain expert, author and publish knowledge articles, known issues and mitigation tips for Veritas products.
Work in a cross-geo environment as one team and communicate effectively with globally distributed Storage and Veritas teams.
Role requirements: What skills, experience and education you need as a team member to succeed:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent together with work experience
- Excellent understanding of UNIX/Linux or Windows Operating Systems .Linux or windows kernel internals.
- Proficient in C Programming, Python, and Shell Scripting
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and debugging skills on UNIX/Linux
- Excellent knowledge and experience in Storage technology domain
- Strong knowledge of Data structures, Distribution systems, and Networking
- Experience with containers is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English
