Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Positions in Polymer Science and Biomaterials at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK)

Openings for two Ph.D. students and one postdoctoral fellow are available in the group led by Professor Shanfeng Wang in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The group's research interests include polymer science, rheology, biomaterials and tissue engineering. Successful candidates are expected to develop novel polymeric biomaterials, investigate cell-material interactions, and explore their tissue-engineering applications. The requirements for Ph.D. positions: Candidates are required to have an M.S. in Polymer Science and Engineering (or similar, such as Macromolecular Science), although exceptional candidates with only a B.S. in the above discipline will be also considered. Motivated candidates with proven records of academic excellence are encouraged to apply. Experiences on polymer synthesis and interests in polymer physics, rheology, and biomaterials are desirable. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to supply both TOEFL and GRE scores for admission.

The requirements for postdoctoral position: Candidates are required to have a recent Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science and Engineering (or similar, such as Macromolecular Science) with proven records of academic excellence. Candidates with a strong background of polymeric biomaterial synthesis, characterization, and fabrication are encouraged to apply.
