The Data Protection Group drives the product strategy, roadmap, and engineering delivery of the Veritas products, which includes NetBackup, APTARE, Backup Exec, Enterprise Vault (EV), EV.cloud, eDiscovery platform, and Veritas SaaS Backup.
This individual will be a member of an agile scrum team within the NetBackup engineering organization and will participate in new feature development, test automation, and issue resolution. The position is in a scrum team that is part of a large, global engineering organization responsible for delivering NetBackup and MSDP storage deduplication features.
The team is looking for an energetic and proactive professional with 3+ years of software engineering experience to join the team of talented engineers who are passionate about their work. The qualified individual will have experience delivering high quality results while working in an agile development environment. Your experience as a core programmer in file systems, storage and cloud technology for data protection solutions is what we seek. You should also be inquisitive, willing to learn, and bring your a thirst for knowledge and results to the job.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for candidates who have .Net/C# experience to further develop and support features for a data protection solution. You should also have an eye for great design and a knack for pushing projects from conception all the way to customers.
In this role, you will design and develop data protection solutions using the latest technologies. You will own product quality and overall customer experience. You will also propose technical solutions to product/service problems while refining, designing and implementing software components in line with technical requirements. The Senior Software Engineer will productively work in a highly collaborative agile team, coach junior team members, actively participate in knowledge sharing all while communicating across teams in a multinational environment. Ability to work and communicate openly in a distributed work environment is a must.
Minimum Required Qualifications and Skills
o MS/BS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related field of study with 5+ years of relevant experience
o Extensive hands-on working experience in .Net web service application concepts including C#, ASP .Net, WebAPI, ASP MVC, WCF, Data Services
o Knowledge or experience in C++, Powershell
o Proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as MS SQL, Oracle or MySQL
o Experience with working on Microsoft Windows based development environment including developing and debugging using Microsoft Visual Studio
o Good experience in .Net fundamentals including Memory management, Threads, Assemblies, Delegates, Lambdas is required
o Solid understanding of Object-Oriented design patterns and principles.
o Proficient in use and design of REST API and webservices
o Excellent understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms and architectural practices to solve real-world problems.
o Experience developing full-featured applications
o Experience in Agile development methodologies including unit testing and TDD (test-driven development)
Desired Skills (Proficiency in one or more of these technologies is a plus)
o Knowledge and experience with Web Development Technologies: CSS, HTML, JQuery, WebAPI is plus
o Knowledge or experience in using Virtualization technologies like VMWare VCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare Cloud Director
o Knowledge and experience in InstallShield packaging technology is a plus
o Working knowledge of standard CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory) is a plus
o Ability to communicate and collaborate among cross-functional teams in a distributed and multinational environment
o An understanding of data protection solutions for file systems, storage, and cloud technologies is an advantage
