Former Internazionale coach Roberto Mancini has thanked a group of nerazzurri fans for their support during his time as manager, stating that their loyalty will resonate with him forever...
The dust has all but settled after Mancini's acrimonious departure from the San Siro, with José Mourinho installed in his place.
While the latter days of his reign saw his reputation steadily drop, 'Mancio' did enjoy the undying support from at least some of the Inter faithful, some of whom even went to the extent of founding a website for him.
This site, Iostoconmancini.com, contains a message forum for exchanging words of loyalty towards Mancini - a gesture that has not gone unnoticed by the man himself.
The former boss write a letter to the members of the discussion board, which ran: "Dear lads,
"As you know I don't like to talk a lot, particularly about myself, but in recent days I've felt the need to tell you something and I think the time is right to do so.
"I have read all your messages and I've been so impressed by the many expressions of affection. I confess that I'm very excited when I think back to all the beautiful moments that we've shared over the past few years.
"I thank you for this with all my heart. You cannot imagine how wonderful it is to be remembered in such a way.
"But I was at Inter as a coach, and coaches - just like players - come and go. Inter itself will remain forever, and as you are Inter fans first and foremost the most important thing is to stay with the team that needs you.
"I thank you again with a strong embrace. I will never forget this."
