Fiorentina furious with Crespo
Saturday 23 May, 2009
Fiorentina have accused Hernan Crespo of “taking the mickey” after the striker went to Genoa despite agreeing “a formal deal.”
The out of contract Inter striker had been linked with the Viola and a move was on the verge of completion before late last night Genoa President Enrico Preziosi announced he had got the player.
“Someone is trying to be sneaky, I already have an agreement and I want it to be maintained,” Fiorentina director Pantaleo Corvino told Stadio.
“If they want to play at creating a bidding war, they are sadly mistaken. We had a formal deal, even if there was no paperwork, but we certainly will not accept an increase in the figures we already agreed.”
Corvino launched a particularly scathing attack on agent Fernando Hidalgo, who represents Crespo.
“I have not been called by the agent or the player. One thing is certain, I won’t let anyone take the mickey out of me and I am not lacking in imagination when it comes to buying players.
“We have Alberto Gilardino and can wait for the right man to come along. We’ve no emergency to get a centre-forward.”
