Alvarez: ‘I don’t know who owns me…’

Sampdoria’s Ricky Alvarez admits he still doesn’t know if Inter or Sunderland hold his registration rights.

The Argentinian was loaned to the English Premier League side last season, with a mandatory buyout of   11m if the Black Cats avoided relegation.

The Mackems did stay in the division, but refused to buy Alvarez as they claimed he’d been injured when he joined the club.

The pair then went to FIFA to settle the dispute, with football’s governing body ruling in favour of the Nerazzurri, which Sunderland appealed.

Alvarez had initially been barred from playing while the conflict was resolved, but it was decided he could continue his playing career with Sampdoria.

“I still don’t know who holds my registration,” Alvarez confessed in an interview with La Repubblica.

“It’s not a good situation, but I can say that in general footballers aren’t used to knowing their fate. It doesn’t depend on me, I just want to do well with Sampdoria and sign a ‘real’ contract.

“It wasn’t easy to train alone for months, it’s something I wouldn’t wish on any player.”

传球也不够果断不够致命
