Ranocchia: ‘I needed a change’
By Football Italia staff
Andrea Ranocchia acknowledges “I’ve made mistakes” at Sampdoria, but “it was time for a change”.
The centre-back left Inter on loan in January to join the Blucerchiati, but has been criticised after a series of blunders.
However, the Italian international insists he’s now regaining his top form as the season enters its final stages.
“For me, it was time for a change,” Ranocchia told La Repubblica.
“I wanted to play. Training session after training session I’m feeling better and better, even if it’s taken me some time to regain my condition.
“Now I know I’ve returned to the highest levels, and I feel good finally. It hasn’t been easy, I arrived at Bogliasco on January 28 after a chaotic day, three days later I was starting at Bologna.
“I know I’ve made mistakes, but I’m coming off a period where I was practically stopped. My legs felt heavy and concentration wasn’t optimal.
“Since when you’re a defender you have almost everything to lose if you get something wrong, that means trouble.”
