De Boer: ‘Inter must continue’
By Football Italia staff
Frank de Boer wants Inter to show “the same intensity” with Empoli as they did against Juventus.
The Nerazzurri have had a poor start to the season, but beat the champions 2-1 at San Siro on Sunday evening, suggesting a corner may have been turned.
“For me, that attitude is very important,” De Boer said in his pre-match Press conference ahead of the Empoli game.
“At Empoli I want to see the same attitude we had against Juventus. The three points against the Bianconeri help us in the process we’re going through together.
“Ever Banega’s suspension? We won’t change the formation, we’re only missing one player. I want the same intensity we showed against Juventus, that’s important for me.
“It’ll only be after the Empoli game that I’ll have some idea of where my team has come to, we’ve only had two days to prepare so I’ll have more of an idea about their growth at the final whistle.
“We always want to dominate the game, in every game. We did that well against Juventus, putting a lot of pressure on them.
“I repeat, our goal is to impose our game against every opponent, all pulling together in the same direction. Against Empoli I want to see what we showed on Sunday, from everyone.
“We can’t stop, we have to move forward, working during training and then putting that into practice during the match.
“Quality is very important, but it’s all relative if you don’t work hard.
“We have to dominate the match, that’s what we’re aiming for. Against Juventus we moved very well, the team was compact and united and the players moved very well together without leaving much space between the lines.
“It’s only with that attitude we can win games.”
The reaction to Sunday’s win has been very postiive, with many now tipping De Boer’s side for the Scudetto.
“Clearly people are happy and satisfied after Sunday’s win. I think it’s normal that there’s pressure at a big club like Inter, so it’s nice when you win.
“We’re confident and we believe in the project which we’re undertaking. I saw a lot of good things against Juventus, but there’s still room to improve.
“Clearly winning my first Inter-Juventus game was fantastic, but now we have to think about the next one. Like I said, it’s the project that counts.
“Yes, the Juventus game can be considered a very important one, but I want to have a lot more.
“The League is long, but won against Juventus on Sunday but it’s just one game. If we maintain the attitude we had against Juventus it would be important, but we have to take it a game at a time.”
