Cannavaro rejects Inter

Inter approached Fabio Cannavaro about replacing Frank de Boer but were rejected, according to reports.

The Nerazzurri sacked De Boer on Tuesday, but different factions of the club cannot agree on who should replace him.

At the moment it appears Stefano Pioli and Marcelino are vying for the role, but La Repubblica is reporting that Cannavaro was approached.

It’s thought Chinese owners Suning Group were impressed by the former defender’s work with Tianjin Quanjan.

Cannavaro took over the side with the League One season already underway, with Tianjin 11 points behind the leaders.

The Ballon d’Or winner led his side to the title and promotion to the Super League, but rebuffed the Beneamata’s advances.

It’s not being claimed that Cannavaro was actually offered the job, rather that he was sounded-out and explained that he wasn’t interested.
