Icardi captaincy in the balance?

Nerazzurri President Zhang Jindong is said to be furious at the club's nightmare recent run of form, which has seen Stefano Pioli's team go winless in seven matches and pick up just two points during that time.

Following Sunday's defeat to struggling Genoa, the San Siro side lie seventh in Serie A and are in serious danger of missing out on Europa League qualification.

According to the Italian sports daily, Jindong has now issued a warning to the entire Inter squad that their futures will be up for discussion at the end of the season.

While Argentine Icardi has enjoyed another fine campaign on a personal level, netting 24 goals and claiming eight assists, it is claimed that the Nerazzurri hierarchy are unconvinced by his leadership qualities during difficult moments.

The Inter squad have three more matches to convince the Suning Group that they have a future at San Siro, with games against Sassuolo and Lazio followed by a final day meeting with Udinese.
