Mancini On Totti Episode
Inter coach Roberto Mancini talked about yesterday's incident involving
Francesco Totti and the ongoing title race.
Following Inter's 2-0 victory against Fiorentina, which kept their Scudetto
challengers Roma four points behind, coach Roberto Mancini was once again
asked questions on the rivalry with the Giallorossi. The latest controversy
surrounds Roma captain Francesco Totti's behaviour, as he was clearly seen
heavily insulting the referee, who only cautioned him.
"I didn't see the incident in Udine between Totti and the referee, but
everyone's telling me it was a blatant offence," said Mancini. "The league?
It all depends on us, also because now we are in a good condition, and for
those who follow us it could not be enough to win every game.
"I think Roma will do just that. On Sunday we are going to Turin without
[Patrick] Vieira. It was only a matter of time before he got suspended."
The coach was then asked who he referred to when in the first half he said to
one of his players: "I'm taking you off in five minutes," an incident which
was caught on camera.
"I reprimanded [Julio] Cruz because he had lost a few balls," he revealed,
"but now the important thing is to take it one game at a time, without
thinking about other things."
