General Introduction
EMC, a worldwide leader in information infrastructure, the mission of its CTO Office is to help define and steer the long-term technical strategy for whole company. The EMC Labs China operates in CTO Office, and focuses on research, identification, evaluation and development of high-leverage technology incubations. EMC Labs China is a core component of the EMC China CoE, focusing on applied research in new technology, product prototype development and incubation, and collaborations with leading universities and organizations for standardization. There are three laboratories under the EMC Labs China with a respective focus on big data, cloud infrastructure & system, and cloud platform & applications. 50 researchers and engineers form the core team.

The Big Data Lab is now seeking passionate and brilliant talents to fill multiple internship positions in the research area of large-scale (a.k.a cloud) data management and analysis.
We are looking for exceptionally talented students in Computer Science or related disciplines. Students from China, North America, Europe and other parts of the world who are passionate about working on challenging research problems are encouraged to apply. The selected students will work closely with our researchers to design and implement an innovative big data analytics system for online and predictive analytics of big data.
For students from China, the internship is for at least six months. Work schedule could be flexible based on the students’ availability. Overseas students are encouraged to apply for full-time intern positions for at least three months. Besides, the technical requirements/preferences include:
•    Proficient in Java and Linux shell programming
•    Good algorithm design ability and mathematics/statistics knowledge
•    Fundamental Knowledge on MapReduce and relational databases (e.g., SQL syntax, query optimization and query execution)
•    A quick learner and an innovator who is passionate in new technologies
•    Good communication skills in both Chinese and English
•    Academic research experience is a plus
•    Practical experience in Hadoop-related application development (e.g. writing MapReduce jobs) is a big plus
•    Familiar with the kernel implementations of Hadoop and/or Relational DBMSs (e.g., PostgreSQL and MySQL) is a big plus
