Job Description:
IBM SWG Hardware Acceleration Lab (HAL) is a WW team to incubate and drive delivery of system optimization spanning hardware acceleration and platform stack optimization for existing and new cloud computing offerings and appliances. The team leverages rapidly evolving hardware-based technology (such as multicore, SSD, high speed networking, FPGA/GPU and etc) and their applicability to existing IBM systems. It is working closely with IBM Research, STG and universities.
CDL HAL is one integrated part of WW HAL and belongs to CDL ETI (Emerging Technology Institute). It undertakes a number of key initiatives of IBM Cloud Computing and Work-load-optimized Systems strategy.
This position will provide the candidate opportunities to work with WW senior techni-cal leaders on cloud computing area, to touch the source code of the strategic cloud computing software product, and to experiment with the cutting-edge technology in the industry. The basic responsibilities of this role include Java based product design, development, testing and documentation maintenance. It is also including but not lim-ited to software performance testing and monitoring, analyzing software performance characteristics and diagnosing software performance issues.
[Position Requirements]
• Strong Java programming skills
• Moderate C/C++ programming skills
• Understanding of Software Design Pattern and Algorithms
• Experience of Software Functional/Performance Testing
• Strong experience of working with one or more Unix/Linux Operating Systems
• UNIX shell scripting
• Interest in deep hardware/software optimization and exploiting new hardware tech-nologies

• Understanding with Parallel Computing and Multithreaded Programming
• Knowledge about Software Performance and Experience of Performance Tuning
• Knowledge about Software/Workload Optimization
