Thomson Reuters Point Carbon – Carbon/Gas Markets Analyst (Intern) – Shanghai
Thomson Reuters Point Carbon has opened a summer internship/student project position on its emerging market team. The student is to work with the well-established energy team based in Oslo (Norway), as well as s/he would collaborate with colleagues in Shanghai.
Description:
Two Tasks
First: Assist Oslo team to gather data for a quantitative model that would be used for forecasting the demand and supply balance on the carbon market and ultimately yield price of allowances and offsets for carbon markets. Help maintain offset database timely, keep a close eye on China’s carbon market, including the CCER system and all seven pilots. Gather data and write short reports.
Second: Facilitate a carbon seminar scheduled in Shanghai later this year. In this task, the intern is expected to work closely with both analyst team in Oslo from content side and commodities team in Shanghai from business side.
The Team
The student would work closely with some of world’s leading energy market analysts and would have access to the existing comprehensive model of the EU ETS, price forecasting and market analysis tools. For the time of the project the student would be an integral and crucial member of the team that is building and enhancing Thomson Reuter’s analytical horizon. There is also a possibility to discuss other modeling projects with the candidate.

Desired qualifications
Engineering/economic background is preferred; interests in about Chinese carbon/gas policy, basic knowledge on carbon emission trade schemes, initiative to work independently. LaTeX knowhow is a plus.
The internship period will be around 3 months to 6 months. The internship will start before the end of June 2014. We prefer the candidate can work at least three days a week. We provide flexible working environment. The position is based in Shanghai.
