Pivotal IT seeks a support, hosted systems, and IaaS guru who likes people as much as they like the command line. Do you take great joy in a smoothly running office? What does Pivotal do?
We want to transform the way the world builds software. We’re building a Pivotal suite of software and services to let everyone, from big to small, create great software of their own.
What does Pivotal IT do?
If it has a MAC address, it’s ours. We keep things working so that everyone else can focus on what they do best. We value personal communication over documentation, time over money, and good enough today over perfect next week. When we need help, we pair and learn. Got it under control? Get it done.
What do we need from you?
Our Shanghai office is the hub for everything that’s happening at Pivotal in Great China, and we need your help keeping the office and some of the company’s primary systems running smoothly. Your job will become as big as you make it. The prime directive is: do the right thing, do what works, and be kind.
What do we work with?
We primarily use Apple products, but some people will be on Windows or Linux instead of Macs. If you’ve got background in all three, we’re excited. If not, we'll teach you. We deal with mobile devices of every kind, and as few printers as possible. We love Google Apps and Okta SSO. We keep as many services hosted (IaaS) as we can. You’ll also have the chance to work with cool stuff like Casper Suite, ESXi, and enterprise scale Wi-Fi.
Here are some requests we’ve gotten recently:
Get a batch of new high-spec MacBook series inventoried, imaged, and out on the floor
Join a client meeting with the office director to answer IT questions
Tune up the tech in our conference rooms and keep them working flawlessly
Troubleshoot Internet connectivity issue
Configure/maintenance an IaaS environment(ESXi or AWS)
What’s a typical day look like?
Hot breakfast shows up at 8:45. After we eat, we get together for a chat on what’s happening that day. We all stand up to keep it brief. Once you hit your desk, it’s up to you. What looks important? What do you want to work on alone? What do you want to pair with one of the other team members? What do you want to pass to someone else? You have a lot of latitude in deciding how to do your job. If you work here, we trust you.

Qualifications and factors for success:
One years of technical helpdesk or equivalent experience
Written and spoken English fluency
A focus on end-user satisfaction over technical perfection
Personable and presentable demeanor, consulting experience highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels of technical expertise and seniority, inside and outside the organization, both verbally and in writing
