Team/Department Mission
Symantec sells its products around the world and derives approx. half of its
revenue from outside the United States. A lot of Symantec's existing enterp
rise security products, Veritas' Storage, and newly acquired products, have
internalization limitations that prevent us from successfully penetrating in
ternational markets. Thus these products require internationalization (I18n)
. Internationalization is the process of engineering world-ready software th
at fully supports the input, manipulation, and display of both single-byte E
uropean and multi-byte Asian character sets. It involves the development of
products which don't make assumptions based on a single language or locale a
nd whose source code base simplifies the creation of different language edit
ions of a product. An internationalized product/website should be useable an
ywhere in the world out-of-the-box. Internationalization also provides the f
ramework in which localization takes place more easily and more efficiently.
To be more successful in this area, Symantec created a world-wide I18n grou
p which provides development and certification consultancy services to the p
roduct development groups in the design and implementation of internationali
zation. This group maintains direct contact with development teams, local sa
les offices and localization departments.
The role's purpose is to contribute to better defining/analyses of the compe
titive landscape, technology trends and products integration quality and ris
ks within the internationalization area.
Daily tasks will include:

Qualifications:
" The candidate should have interest in QA analyses
" Experience in IT administration or software testing
" Understanding of storage management and data protection enterprise
solutio

" Wants to learn how to test and develop internationalized software
" Analytical problem solver who is able to make smart, simplifying
assumptio

" Creative who can get things done with little supervision, proactive
" Good communicator both writing and verbally, in English
" Has technical bachelor degree or on final year.
" Knowledge of other languages is an advantage
