What is the University Scholars Leadership Symposium?
The University Scholars Leadership Symposium is a Humanitarian Leadership Training Course for Students in Institutions of Higher Learning who would like to play a bigger role and Be the Change they want to see in this World.
It will bring 300 of the world's most dynamic student activists in the field of sustainable development to this gathering in August 1 to 7, 2010.
The University Scholars Leadership Symposium offers a unique opportunity to meet and network with young people who share similar passion in alleviating the plight of the poor in our globalised world.
This event sets a new standard for international youth meeting as it will be run by selected College Leaders from Selected Universities and it will be the largest and most inspirational gathering of its kind for young people taking place anywhere on Earth in 2010.
At the Program, young people from around the world will have the opportunity to dialogue, propose and formulate sustainable development projects to improve the living conditions of the World Poor.
Participants will have an opportunity to experience poverty first-hand during a 1-day Experiential Learning Program where they will go to the ground and understand the true meanings of being Poor.
This event is not another “talk show “ where people come to attend and go home without any concrete actions. Our goals are to allow our participants to take the lead to initiate sustainable development projects after completion of the University Leadership Scholars Program.
When will it Take Place ?
The University Scholars Leadership Program will take place during the Summer Break on August 1 to 7, 2010.
Where will the University Scholars Leadership Symposium Be Held ?
The University Scholars Leadership Symposium will be held in the UNESCO heritage city of Malacca in Malaysia.
What is so Unique about the University Leadership Symposium?
This is the first Youth-Led Meeting focusing ONLY on Humanitarian Issues in the World and is specially designed for College Leaders who are keen to contribute to the Social Development of the Poor.
Participants will have the opportunity to live the Lives of the World Poor and experience for themselves “ What Life is like to be Poor ”.
So if you are a young person and would like to experience poverty first-hand, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

The University Scholars Leadership Symposium 2010 invites young people who are keen in humanitarian services and have an interest to make a difference in the World to participate in the event. Applications for campus leader, volunteer and participant are now open for registration.
What is the Focus of the University Scholars Leadership Symposium?
A Step by Step Guide to teach Student Leaders on Methods for Proper Planning of a Humanitarian Service from Visualization to Actual Implementation.
A Knowledge Based Program that teach College Student to build Schools for the Rural Community and to increase the Education Opportunity of the World Poor in particularly the children whom are deprived of their basic Education.
Ways to Raise Funds for the Sustainable Development Project from Proposal Writing to Meeting Potential Sponsors.
Who is Eligible to Participate ?
Young People from colleges, tertiary institutions, universities or international youth organizations with a keen interest in sustainable development projects and would like to help improve the living conditions of the World Poor.
What is the Pre-Requisite to be a Campus Leader?
A Campus Leader is a person with great compassion and posses good leadership qualities. Selected College Leaders will be given a Letter of Appointment. Photograph of the respective College Leaders will be posted on the Official University Scholars Leadership Program Website at www.universityscholars.org.uk.
What are the Roles and Responsibilities of a Campus Leader ?
A Campus Leader must provide information about the University Scholars Leadership Program and to circulate the program materials to their Peers.
The Campus Leader must be able to assemble a team of 5 to 7 delegates to attend the Symposium.
During the Program, Campus Leaders act as Group Leaders and will be the facilitators for the Conference.
They will be responsible for the success implementation of the University Scholars Leadership Program.
When is the Training for the Campus Leader ?
All Campus Leaders must arrive two days before the actual event for training to be a good facilitator. This training will be fully sponsored.
How much is the Participation Fee ?
The Participation Fee is varies between USD 280 to 450 each. It include 6 nights of accommodation in a tourist-class hotel; Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and 2 coffee-breaks; One piece of T-shirt, Training Materials; 1-full day of Experiential Learning Program; Educational Visit; a Certificate of Participation; Local Transportation; Welcome Dinner and a Farewell Party.2007.

However, Campus Leaders will be exempted from paying the Participation Fee if they fulfill their responsibilities and ensure a minimum of 5 delegates (excluding themselves) from their College attend the University Scholars Leadership Symposium.
However, they will have to pay the full registration fee if they fail to assemble a team of 5 participants from their College.
International travel arrangement will be the sole responsibility of each participant including the Campus Leaders.
Successful Candidates are allowed to canvass for funding for their travel and other expenses and the Secretariat will provide them with a Supporting Letter to Donors.

When is the Final Date to Apply to be a Campus Leader ?
We suggest that Application should be submitted before 15th April due to limited seats.
