Pine River Capital Management is a multi-strategy relative value investment firm which was founded in 2002. We currently have $1.8BB under management, with offices in Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, London and Hong Kong. Our core strategies include fixed income, global convertible bond and capital structure arbitrage.  In 2009, our flagship Nisswa Fund, with a three-year compound annual return of 19.38%, was listed as one of the 100 top hedge funds in the world. In addition, the Nisswa Fixed Income Fund, under the Pine River umbrella, was recognized by Absolute Return magazine as fund of the year in the Fixed Income category. We are in the process of opening a Beijing office dedicated to research and systems development and are actively looking to hire bright, talented interns to work on model building, systems development and trading strategy research projects.

We are interested in speaking to outstanding graduate students enrolled in engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics and finance programs at top-tier Beijing universities. We are most interested in speaking to students who are expected to complete their studies in 2011 or 2012. Proficiency in Excel is required. Knowledge of VBA, C++, SAS and database management is strongly preferred. Other specialized skills and knowledge will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Candidates should be intelligent, independent, motivated and able to work in a team-based environment. We will provide training and educate students on the practicalities of finance, but interns will be expected to learn quickly and rapidly reach the point where they can contribute. We expect that interns will be able to make a significant time commitment during the school year and a full-time commitment during the summer. However, we are willing to discuss hours on a case-by-case basis.

We will potentially offer interns the chance to travel to the US, Hong Kong and possibly London to work directly with Pine River investment professionals. This is an excellent way in which bright motivated individuals can gain practical experience in the financial markets. There is the chance that individuals with appropriate skill sets can eventually be moved into risk-taking positions.
