*****Windows 7 Installation Note*****
I. When installing Windows 7 OS from four backup CDs, press Shift+F10 keys
before being asked to input the username and password on screen. Then on the C
MD window, type the following commands:

Delete volume /* Delete the backup media partition given by the Windows OS

IV. Use UTC time setup: After register UTC time, Windows 7 OS will never write
time back to CMOS, but can read time from CMOS. Therefore, before run “
regedit” command, first set the system time to UTC time, then synchronize the
time with internet time, after that, restart the system and register “
RealTimeIsUniversal”.

***Windows Installation NOTE***
1 When updating Windows update, drivers, .net frameworks, office and IE,
disable Windows auto-update option.
2 LNS must choose a proper Network Interface option, do not choose WAN
Miniport(IP) and WAN Miniport(IPv6) but choose WAN Miniport(Network Monitor),
otherwise Windows cannot synchronize Internet time.
***Gentoo Installatio NOTE***
1 In file /etc/conf.d/net, wpa_supplicant_wlan0 must =”-Dnl80211”, should
not =”-Dwext”.
2 linux-firmware is OK, but iwl6005-ucode does not work.
3 Make /dev/fdà/proc/self/fd, must let /etc/init.d/udev work.
4 SELinux cannot login /home directory because /home directory has no wx
privilege: chmod o+wx /home, /home/user
5 If /etc/resolv.conf is empty, it is failed to browse Internet pages because
the domain name can not be resolved to IP address.
***Caution***
This installation note is only effective on specific Thinkpad hardware with
genuine Windows 7. And there is might something wrong in this note. And it is
also recommended to install gentoo or other Linux distro such as Debian in
VMware because maybe Linux OS has not been optimized on Thinkpad hardware.
