We will review some currently-studied connections between quantum mechanics and other areas of pure mathematics, focusing on categorical and diagrammatic formulations. In particular, I will discuss work on axiomatic characterizations for the category of Hilbert spaces, and links between entanglement, geometric invariant theory, symplectic reduction, and singularity theory.

Will Donovan joined Yau MSC, Tsinghua U in 2018. Since 2021 he is an Associate Professor, and Adjunct Associate Professor at BIMSA. His focus is geometry, in particular applying ideas from physics and noncommutative algebra to study varieties, using tools of homological algebra and category theory. He studied at Cambridge U, completed his PhD at Imperial College London, and was postdoctoral researcher at Edinburgh U, UK. From 2014-18 he was research fellow at Kavli IPMU, U Tokyo, where he is now Visiting Associate Scientist. His work is published in journals including Communications in Mathematical Physics and Duke Mathematical Journal. He is supported by China Thousand Talents Plan, and received a Japan Society for Promotion of Science Young Scientist grant award.

I will give a self-contained exposition of the theory of KZ equations and related topics. I want to focus on the geometry hidden behind solutions of KZ equations, e.g. local systems associated with KZ, the Gauss-Manin connections, monodromy representations of braid groups from KZ. I will also go to the algebra part such as Drinfeid-Kohno theorem which explains the relation between the monodromy representations and the one from quantum groups. I also hope to talk about the current developments.

何煜于2019年取得控制科学与工程专业博士学位,博士期间的研究方向为计算机视觉,主要从事三维点云配准、识别、跟踪等相关算法研究,2019年进入博士后工作站,在站期间的研究方向为图形学、虚拟现实和混合现实技术。已在相关领域发表论文十余篇。2021年进入BIMSA工作至今,主要从事XR技术在航天领域的应用研究。

From the view point of potential theory, infinite graphs form a discrete model of noncompact Riemannian manifolds. For a discrete Laplacian on a network, the corresponding discrete Poisson equation is related to Kirchhoff's electric circuit laws. On the other hand, there is an interplay between infinite networks and the theory of Markov chains. In this course, we introduce basic results on infinite networks, such as extremal length. We will discuss its connections to circle packings.

Geometric numerical integration of dynamical systems or structure- preserving methods for ordinary differential equations has become a vital area of numerical analysis since 1980's. The key idea is that one should discretise a continuous system of differential equations defined on a Lie group. In this lecture, we study parametric variation of a specific mathematical structure; in particular, the holomorphic structure of complex manifolds. Inspired by Quillen, Deligne, Drinfeld et al, every deformation problem is governed by a differential graded Lie algebra (DGLA). Nowadays this approach to deformation theory is a very active area of research. To keep the beginners friendly, this lecture is designed to give a classical introduction to deformation of compact complex manifolds.

I am a theoretical high energy physicist and have been worked on various topics on quantum field theory, string theory, black hole physics and holographic principle. The broad questions my research aims to address is: what are the building blocks of spacetime and matter? String theory provides a potential framework to answer these questions because it can unify quantum theory with gravity in a very natural way. At present time, my main focus is studying quantum aspects of black holes.

We first define algebraic varieties over an algebraically closed field. Then we discuss complex algebraic varieties from curves, surfaces to higher dimensions. We will emphasize elliptic curves, K3 surfaces, hyper-Kahler manifolds, and more generally, Calabi-Yau manifolds. We try to collect and discuss recent open problems along the way.

The most widely used nowadays are the number theoretical based cryptosystems such as RSA, DSA, and ECC. However, due to Peter Shor's Algorithm, such cryptosystems would become insecure if a large Quantum computer is built. We need to develop a new family of cryptosystems that can resist quantum computers attacks. Researchers usually use Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to denote this new family. In the course, we will talk about Post-Quantum Cryptography.

This class consists of 2 parts running parallelly. The first part will be on Tuesday night where we give an introduction class for the basics of modern cryptography including symmetric cryptography, public key cryptography and post-quantum cryptography. The second part will be on Thursday night and we will cover advanced topics including multiparty computation, fully homomorphic encryption. The second part will also bring in speakers including students and postdocs to give lectures on their current research topics and results, and it encourages students to give presentations in any interesting topics they choose.

丁津泰,美国耶鲁大学博士,曾任辛辛那提大学威廉·塔福特教授,现任清华大学数学科学中心和北京雁栖湖应用数学研究院双聘教授。早期主要从事量子仿射代数、表示论的研究工作,目前的研究方向是后量子密码学。曾三次担任国际后量子密码学会议的联席主席,是国际上多变量密码学著名学者之一。
梁蓓,博士毕业于中科院信息工程研究所信息安全专业,后于瑞典查尔姆斯理工大学做博士后研究,现任北京雁栖湖应用数学研究院助理研究员。主要研究方向是理论密码学,可证明安全。在密码学国际期刊及会议上发表论文20余篇,曾获ISC 2019最佳论文奖和ProvSec 2015最佳学生论文奖。作为课题负责人参与了国家重点研发计划两项,承担了北京自然科学基金面上项目一项。

Motivic cohomology, originated from Deligne, Beilinson and Lichtenbaum and developed by Voevodsky, is a kind of cohomology theory on schemes. It admits comparison with étale cohomology of powers of roots of unity (Beilinson-Lichtenbaum), together with higher Chow groups, and relates to K-theory by Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence. In this lecture, we establish the category of motives in which the motivic cohomologies are realized. We explain its relationship with Milnor K-theory and Chow group. Furthermore, we introduce devices like MV-sequence, Gysin triangle, projective bundle formula and duality.

杨南君本科毕业于北京航空航天大学,硕士博士毕业于格勒诺布尔-阿尔卑斯大学,博士导师Jean Fasel。之后在丘成桐数学科学中心做博后,现在是BIMSA的助理研究员。本人研究方向为原相(motivic)上同调和周-威特(Chow-Witt)环。本人提出了分裂型米尔诺-威特原相理论并且应用在纤维丛的周-威特环的计算中。相关成果已经独立发表在Manus. Math.和Doc. Math.等期刊上。

随着金融市场的发展,传统金融产品无法满足日益增加的金融需求,衍生品市场(如期货、期权)在我国发展非常迅速。数理工具在新型金融产品设计及新型设施开发中发挥了巨大作用,以衍生品为基础的金融工程也成为金融学中重要的学科分支。本课程将介绍金融工程中核心的数理基础知识并系统总结衍生品市场中的金融理论与模型。课程内容包括套利、对冲及B-S模型等基础衍生品理论,和泊松市场模型、随机波动率模型以及随机过程的基础理论等更深入的衍生品模型。本课程旨在让同学们系统了解金融工程中运用的基本数理工具,以及它们在衍生品市场中如何发挥作用。

Dr. Haihua Xie receives a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Iowa State University in 2015. Before joining BIMSA in Oct. 2021, Dr. Xie worked in the State Key Lab of Digital Publishing Technology for many years. His research interests include Natural Language Processing and Knowledge Service. He published more than 20 papers and obtained 5 invention patents. In 2018, Dr. Xie was selected in the 13th batch of overseas high-level talents in Beijing and was hornored as a "Beijing Distinguished Expert".

Ioannis Papadimitriou is a graduate of Imperial College London (M.Sci. ‘00), the University of Pennsylvania (M.S. ‘02) and the University of Amsterdam (Ph.D. ‘05). Following postdoctoral appointments at a number European institutes including CERN, he was an Assistant Professor at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study in Seoul since 2017, before joining BIMSA as a faculty member in 2021.
Ioannis’s research focuses on string theory, quantum field theory, black holes and the AdS/CFT correspondence.

Up to time permission, the course will mainly cover the following topics: Eilenberg-MacLane spaces and Postnikov system; H-spaces and co-H-spaces, Hopf algebra; Homology of loop spaces, Bott-Samelson theorem, Dyer-Lashof operations; James construction, Whitehead products, Samelson products, configuration spaces, Snaith Theorem; Cohen group, natural self-transformations of the loop suspension functor, functor A^{min} , decompositions of loops on co-H-spaces; EHP sequences and homotopy groups.

BIMSA研究员,美国罗切斯特大学数学系博士,加州大学伯克利分校数学研究所博士后,前新加坡国立大学数学系终身教授,2021年12月入职北京雁栖湖应用数学研究院(BIMSA)。研究方向为代数拓扑与应用拓扑,在代数拓扑理论研究上的主要成就是建立了同伦群与辫子群理论的基础性关系,以及回路空间同伦论与置换群模表示论的基础性关系;在应用拓扑方面,将代数拓扑理论应用在大数据等领域并取得了一系列成果。在Journal of American Mathematical Society, Advances in Mathematics等数学顶尖期刊发表学术论文90余篇。2007年获得新加坡国家科学奖。2014年获得国家自然科学基金海外联合基金(杰青B)的资助。

蒋瀚如于2019年在中国科学技术大学取得计算机科学与技术博士学位,2019-2020年在鹏城实验室量子计算研究中心担任助理研究员,2020年加入BIMSA任助理研究员。他的主要研究方向为程序语言理论、编译器的形式化验证和量子计算中的程序语言问题。作为并发程序分离编译验证工作CASCompCert的主要完成人,获得程序语言领域顶级会议PLDI 2019的Distinguished Paper Award。

近年来,量化交易的理论研究及其应用有了很大的发展,量化交易在国内外金融市场中的应用愈加普遍。本课程的主要目的是让研究生能够从数学和统计学基础、金融市场微观结构、算法及其优化等角度深入理解量化交易的基本理论及其应用。从理论和技术层面学习和掌握量化交易的数理模型、核心算法、优化技术以及交易策略等,并着力培养研究生对量化交易的应用和实践技能。
课程核心内容包括但不限于量化交易内涵及其发展现状,量化交易的统计模型与方法,量化选股和量化择时策略,投资组合与套利策略,交易平台设计及其电子交易,限价指令、最优执行和智能订单路径,基于量化交易的金融监管对策等。
课程适用于有一定数理基础与程序编写能力的硕士和博士研究生。
