Abstract:
Scaling symmetries are ubiquitous in Hamiltonian systems. It is known since Arnold that Hamiltonian systems admitting a scaling symmetry of degree 1 are in natural correspondence with contact Hamiltonian systems on the underlying contact manifold. In this talk we will present new ideas concerning the extension of this property to scaling symmetries of degree different from 1. Possible applications will also be discussed. This is joint work with David Sloan and Connor Jackman.
