Some Investigations on Contact Dynamics

Abstract:
This talk is consisting of two parts. The first goal is to construct a Tulczjyew's triplet for contact dynamics. This structure is proper for Legendre transformation between the Herglotz-Lagrange Dynamics and Contact Hamiltonian Dynamics and works even for degenerate cases. Referring to this framework, I shall examine Implicit Contact Dynamics. In the second part of this talk, we shall provide a geometrical framework for GENERIC (General Equation for the Nonequilibrium Reversible--Irreversible Coupling) in the realm of contact Hamilton-Jacobi theory. GENERIC is a dynamical formulation coupling reversible and irreversible motions. In this formulation, a Poisson bracket determines the reversible dynamics, whereas a dissipation potential is necessary for the irreversible dynamics. If time permits, I shall present a kinetic theory for a continuum governed by contact vector fields.
