Urban Planning/ Transportation Intern, World Resource Institute

llion organization with an international staff of approximately 250 working
with more than 400 partners in 50 countries, WRI provides objective informat
ion and practical proposals for policy and institutional change that will fo
ster environmentally sound, socially equitable development.
WRI has a unique portfolio of environmental projects in China. In the follow
ing five years, WRI China will focus more on designing an integrated approac
h to tackling urbanization and industrialization. This is a cross cutting in
itiative and will require an economics leader to -focus on key macroeconomic
s issues of urban development. WRI China Office was established in 2008 as t
he first country office of the World Resources Institute (WRI), aiming to he
lp China seek an environmentally smart pathway for its urbanization and indu
strialization. This initiative is to promote sustainable and livable cities
in China, India, and Brazil.
The World Resource Institute (www.wri.org) China Program is seeking one high
ly motivated and self-driven intern for its Beijing Office to conduct data a
nalysis and research in support of its sustainable transportation program.
Main duties:
1. directly participate in transportation and urban development project.
2. compile transportation and city planning data.
3. conduct policy-oriented research and analysis with a particular focus on
traffic congestion and built environment.
Requirements:
Undergrad/grad student from an accredited university working towards\obtaine
d a transportation or urban planning degree
Knowledge of urban planning / transportation principles and implementation p
rocess in China.
Proficiency in Chinese and English, with strong oral and written communicati
on skills.
The internship will be either part-time or full-time. Reasonable compensatio
n will be provided on an hourly basis.
