It is kind of hard to tell if this book is helpful to me. I opened it with the expectation of some popularized psychology but was somewhat daunted by a plethora of categorized emotion terms instead. Granted, the author claims that it is her very intention to help understand the exact definition and nuances, which is the first necessary step to tackle these emotions gracefully according to her. I cannot disagree with this approach, especially when it concurs with another favorite book of mine, "Word Power Made Easy", whose author also claims that one's vocabulary is positively correlated with his knowledge (and eventually with his income).
On a second thought, this is indeed a practical approach. Maybe I should have read it even slower. I was already aware and slowed down from time to time to think over those terms, but I could do better.
Among the confusions from the z-turn in our COVID policy, many of those emotions are viscerally relevant. At least this book helps in understanding those emotions, especially in section 1 and 6.
