Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger is set to miss Saturday's home
Premiership clash against Liverpool with a thigh injury.


The German picked up the injury when he came on as a substitute during
Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Manchester City at Eastlands.


Hitzlsperger has had a scan which has shown no serious damage but the player
admitted it is unlikely he will have recovered in time to face Liverpool.

He said: 'The scan has fortunately shown no real damage but I am probably
going to miss this weekend's game.

'I felt the injury after a couple of minutes after I came on. I tried to run
it off but it soon became apparent after the match that something was wrong.'
