A Ph.D student position with financial aid (TA/RA) is open in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Merced.

We are looking for creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates who are passionate and experienced in mass and energy transport and conversion.  Research areas include metallic additive manufacturing, machine learning for new alloys discovery, robotics for high-throughput experiments, thermal management, thermal desalination, and fundamental fluid mechanics and heat transfer.  Background in mechanical engineering, thermal sciences, aerospace engineering, electronic engineering, chemical engineering, applied mathematics and prior experiences in one or more of these areas are highly desirable.
