In early March, Ford officially launched the new Focus in China. With sales beginning in May, the new Focus comes with the first generation Chinese HMI of the Ford Sync system, which can now identify about 100 voice recognition commands in Chinese to control telephony, music search, text messages, and music playing. Currently, the first generation Chinese version of Ford Sync system can recognize standard Mandarin Chinese voice commands as well as Mandarin Chinese with regional accents, particularly for accents of those from Shanghai, Si'chuan and Guangdong provinces. In addition, the new Focus is loaded with a Low Speed Safety System designed to help reduce collisions at speeds under 30km/h. It also features Collision Mitigation Braking and a Blind Spot Information System. The new Focus is the first car to be mass produced by Ford's local joint venture Chang'an Ford's new plant in Chongqing. The old Focus will continue to be sold in the Chinese market.
