Europe best-selling cars in 2020 within 44 markets in the continent, from Portugal to Russia. The Volkswagen Golf holds once again the market crown, while the Opel Corsa, the Peugeot 208, and the Renault Captur enter the leaderboard.
In 2020, the ranking of the best-selling car sees the Volkswagen Golf holding the market crown with 308.834 sales (-32.4%) followed closely by the Renault Clio, which sold 303.185 units (+0.1%).
The Volkswagen Polo closes the podium with 243.009 units sold (-26.6%). With more than 14 million units sold, it is one of the world’s most successful compact cars ever made. The sixth-generation was launched in late 2017, with a new exterior design, a noticeably more spacious interior that has also been redesigned down to the last detail, a new cockpit layout structured for the digital world, efficient TSI (petrol), TGI (natural gas), and TDI (diesel) engines as well as an array of assistance systems which previously was only familiar in larger Volkswagen cars.
The fourth spot is taken by the Volkswagen Tiguan with 219.923 (-27%), ahead of the Skoda Octavia with 215.581 sales (-17.6%) and the Opel Corsa – up 6 spots from last year – with 206.905 (-9%).
The Peugeot 208 -up 4 spots- reached the 7th position, selling 194.357 units (-14.8%), followed by the Ford Focus -down 1 spot-, with 186.766 (-21.1%) and the Nissan Qashqai -down 3 spots- with 178.804 (-31.3%).
At the edge of the top 10 ranking, we find the Renault Captur -up 3 spots- with 175.813 registrations (+-22.2%), entering the leaderboard by jumping 41 spots.
The Ford Puma, with 106.483 sales, is rising extremely quickly, landing in 38th place.
