The Military Method.
The United States Navy Pre-Flight school created a routine to help pilots fall asleep in 2 minutes.
It took pilots about 6 weeks of practice
BUT IT WORKED.
Even after drinking coffee and with gunfire noises in the background.
Here's How It Works:
1. Relax your face.
Close your eyes and breathe slowly.
Relax your jaw, cheeks, mouth, tongue, everything.
2. Drop your shoulders.
Let go of any tension. Relax your neck and feel yourself sinking into your bed
Start with the top of your right arm - relax your bicep, forearm and hand.
Repeat on the other side.
3. Exhale and relax your chest.
With your shoulders and arms relaxed, this should be easy.
4. Relax your legs.
Start with your right thigh; let it sink into your bed.
Then do the same with your calf, ankle and foot.
Repeat with your left leg.
5. Clear your mind.
Think of nothing.
If you struggle with this hold a relaxing image in your mind.
Picture yourself lying comfortably in your cozy bed.
But if that doesn’t work…
6. Repeat the words “don’t think” for 30 seconds.
This should at the very least distract you from overthinking.
