Senior Software Quality Engineer - Virtualization

The Red Hat Software Quality Engineering team is looking for a Software Quality Engineer to join us in Beijing, China. In this role, you will focus on the testing for virtualization components and cover various of popular technologies, including, but not limited to, KVM, QEMU, libvirt, PCI or PCIe, CPU, memory, non-uniform memory access (NUMA), single-root input/output virtualization (SR-IOV), network functions virtualization (NFV), iSCSI, Ceph, NPIV, SeLinux, and you also need to become familiar with OpenStack, oVirt, and KubeVirt. As a Software Quality Engineer, your key responsibilities include creating test plans, researching new features, developing manual and automated tests, and bug verification, to ensure the functions work well in a virtualization environment and support the layered products. You'll also perform acceptance, function, regression, and integration testing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This is an interesting and rewarding opportunity to develop innovative solutions to complex problems while working alongside some of the brightest engineers in the open source industry.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Perform virtualization feature research, design new tests, and maintain test plans
Develop automated test scripts and manual test cases
Report, analyze, and track defects, communicate with stakeholders to reproduce and verify bugs, and perform retrospective and extend test scenarios
Analyze the quality risk and refine the test strategy
Contribute to upstream projects, including autotest framework and virtualization components
Constantly learn new things, participate in the project, and share knowledge

Required Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
2+ years of experience and skills with Linux or UNIX
Familiarity with basic testing theory and methodologies
Solid scripting skills and 1+ year(s) of experience with Bash, Python, or C
Ability to communicate technical issues in English
Basic knowledge of operating systems, network, storage, and security
Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to have initiatives and carry out the action plan
Experience working with virtualization, containers, or cloud is a plus
Contributions to open source projects is a plus
