The Financial Institution Group (FIG) Practice is responsible for providing specialized content support and developing internal knowledge for various financial institutions, e.g. banks, insurance companies, asset managers, securities companies, and financial holding companies etc. Additionally, we invest heavily in developing state-of-the-art knowledge to make our clients more successful.
McKinsey & Company has developed a distinctive and innovative global network of research professionals, basing in various locations around the world. Our research professionals support McKinsey engagements and knowledge building efforts by providing services that range from the delivery of basic facts to developing industry or functional insight, as well as by offering expert thinking on key issues.
To strengthen our team in the China Knowledge Center in Shanghai, we are currently seeking a creative and energetic Junior Research Analyst.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Together with your research colleagues from around the world, you will work with McKinsey consultants to these purposes:  
o    Focus on banking, insurance, securities or asset management industry, prepare analysis on the latest developments in the industry and present the findings in McKinsey format
o    Conduct research in response to specific requests (collect, summarize, analyze, and synthesize relevant data and information)
o    Continue to build knowledge of within FIG Practice as well as to identify, review, and maintain information sources and databases
o    With increasing industry experience, you are encouraged to develop into a true thought partner for our consultants and build up knowledge spikes in specific areas as well as industry perspectives
We expect that you will also contribute to building the FIG Practice by participating in the professional development of colleagues, helping to design and deliver training programs, and finding new ways to create innovative and distinctive services, as well as to enhance team spirit.
EXPECTED CREDENTIALS
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in the financial institution industry and be willing to quickly gain deep industry knowledge. We are looking for a highly inquisitive and creative individual who is excited about working in a cross-cultural environment.

We would expect:
o    Excellent communication skills in English, Mandarin (both oral and written)
o    Undergraduate degree from a prestigious university
o    Background in actuarial science/insurance, finance/economics is preferred
o    0-2 years’ work experience in insurance and asset management industry is preferred
o    Superior problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills
o    Experience in managing multiple simultaneous demanding deadlines
o    Professional attitude and service orientation; superb team player
o    Relevant certificates in finance is a plus
