The Solutions Engineering team at SparkPost is responsible for actively enabling customer growth across our SaaS cloud, Mobile, and On-Prem email Software brands: eDataSource, PowerMTA, Momentum, SparkPost Cloud, Taxi For Email, and MessageBird.
Solutions Engineers work with Sales to provide technical support for new and expansion business opportunities. Solutions Engineers are consultative leaders who help prospects and customers understand how SparkPost solutions are a fit for solving business challenges. This person is comfortable demonstrating the platform, discussing software integrations, and nurturing a customer’s product adoption journey. You will act as a guide to curate product adoption and integration through solution mapping and proof of concept deployments. Your expertise will build trust with technical buyers as you coach them through to a successful deployment.
Our ideal Senior Solutions Engineer is a curious, inventive, critical thinker who is invigorated by a good challenge. You code, build, and invent new solutions to daily problems when they arise. You are just as comfortable collaborating on a python script as you are presenting to the C-Suite.
What you will do:
Collaborate with account executives to help prospects understand the technical underpinnings, performance, and business value of SparkPost solutions
Conduct discovery workshops with customers to gather solution requirements, evaluate product fit, and influence solution direction
Create and demonstrate compelling and creative technical solutions tailored to the specific customer’s needs
Articulate the business value of our solutions through effective ROI conversations and comparison to alternative solutions
Contribute to community education efforts and thought leadership (blogs, knowledgebase, events)
Potential travel up to 30% in support of sales and customer activities
The ideal candidate:
Fluency in Mandarin AND business proficiency in English is required
Knowledge of and experience with Chinese business customs and technical purchasing norms
Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relative SaaS experience preferred (Sales/Solutions Engineer or Technical CSM); Bonus would be the email industry
Experience reading and understanding analytics data, ideally from eDataSource, 250OK, ReturnPath, other email-specific deliverability tools, or business intelligence tools like Splunk, Tableau, or similar
Experience with SMS, Voice, Social, Push Would be an asset.
Experience working with commercial and/or open-source email Message Transfer Agents (MTA) like Postfix
Familiarity with email deliverability concepts like IP warm-up and suppression lists is a plus
Knowledge of SMTP and email delivery and authentication concepts
Proven ability to convey complex technical information to both technical counterparts and to business buyers
Solid comfort with Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems
Experience using Git, Jira, Confluence, and other standard engineering tools.
Some experience with at least one common language (Node, PHP, Perl, Java, C#, Go, Ruby, Lua, etc)
Experience with databases such as [My/PG/MS] SQL, Redshift, RDS, Informix, Mongo, Redis, etc
