世情薄，人情恶，雨送黄昏花易落。
晓风干，泪痕残。欲笺心事，独语斜阑。
难，难，难！
A pitiless world
of heartless folks.
The dusk darkens in a shower
quickening blossoms’ fall.
Tears dried in a morning breeze
but their stains cling.
Can a writing brush put down my sorrow?
Can a soliloquy by the railings vent my woe?
Neither, neither!

人成各，今非昨，病魂常似秋千索。
角声寒，夜阑珊。怕人寻问，咽泪装欢。
瞒，瞒，瞒！
Our bonds severed,
our past no more,
my sick soul moans and sways thin
like swing ropes.
A horn chokes chilly,
the night drawing to a close.
Evading inquiries, I swallow my tears.
A mask of joy I must wear and keep it on,
on and on!
