Madrid spark Mou bidding war
Sunday 24 May, 2009
As Jose Mourinho admits he is “tempted” by Real Madrid, it’s reported Massimo Moratti offers a 0528m deal to keep him at Inter.
He was approached by the Spaniards this week and revealed he was “99.9 per cent sure of staying at Inter, although it is tempting.”
Newspaper As today claims that The Special One set five conditions if he is to take over at the Bernabeu.
He demands complete control of the side and a direct rapport with the President on all transfer dealings, at most a 23-man squad, the inclusion of his trusted staff and the same wages he receives at Inter - 057.9m.
There is also a clause in the proposed contract – one that Fabio Capello also had when he was at Real Madrid – demanding that if a player earns more than he does, Mourinho’s contract must also be improved.
Moratti is said to be angry at the approach and Mourinho’s conditions, but is eager to keep hold of the Scudetto-winner.
The Corriere dello Sport suggests Inter have offered an improved contract worth a total of 0528m when extended to 2012.
The patron is already moving to improve the squad as per Jose’s requests, as a deal has been struck for Genoa duo Diego Milito and Thiago Motta.
