After problems agreeing personal terms, it’s now reported Ricky Alvarez will complete his move to Sunderland.

Last night Tuttomercatoweb claimed Alvarez was finding it difficult to agree personal terms with the Black Cats.

However, today Sky Sport Italia insist a deal has been struck, he underwent a medical very late last night and will be formally announced this afternoon.

It is claimed his medical lasted from 10pm to 3am, then he signed the contract at 7am.

Argentina international creative midfielder Alvarez arrives on a one-season loan for   1m.

There is an option to buy at the end of the season for a further   11m, taking the total up to   12m (  10m).

That option reportedly becomes mandatory if Sunderland avoid relegation.
