Silvestre: An honour to play for Samp
By Football Italia staff
Matias Silvestre has been presented as a Sampdoria player, and has claimed it’s an honour to follow in the footsteps of ‘Vialli and Mancini’.
The Argentine defender has been a peripheral figure at Inter ever since his move in 2012, and this week completed a loan deal to the Bluerchiati.
And the 29-year-old has admitted that he hopes to gain more playing time at the Marassi.
“I am very happy to be a Sampdoria player,” he told a Press conference. “This club has had great champions like Vialli and Mancini – and Argentines like Veron.
“There were a few clubs interested, but it was Samp who tried hardest to get me, so it wasn’t a hard decision to come here.
“Mihajlovic was one of the main reasons I came here. I knew him from my time at Catania and I know he’s a great Coach who looks at every detail.
“Physically I feel ready and want to be in contention for the game against Torino.”
