Moratti: 'Kovacic a good deal'
By Football Italia staff
Ex-Inter patron Massimo Moratti said selling Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid for 35m “seems like a good deal, as he had a lot more to prove.”
It was Moratti who signed the Croatia international from Dynamo Zagreb for 11m plus bonuses in January 2013.
“I have nothing more to do with Inter’s finances and do not look at the Financial Fair Play, but it seems like a good deal,” Moratti told Sport Mediaset.
“I believe it was a wise move. After all, the player had a lot more to prove. He was my final big signing and we paid circa 14m for him.
“I am neither happy nor sad to see Kovacic go, but I repeat, I think it was a good move.
“What do I make of the new Inter squad? We haven’t seen anything yet, so let’s wait and see.”
