Icardi aims for derby start
By Football Italia staff
Mauro Icardi resumed training today and Inter hope he’ll be fit to start Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina.
The striker limped off early into a 1-0 win over Atalanta in Week 1 with a right thigh injury.
He only started partial training sessions with the rest of the team today.
It remains a race against time to be ready for Sunday night’s Serie A clash with city rivals Milan.
From Thursday Icardi is expected to step up the training regime and find a decent level of fitness for the derby.
So far Inter have a 100 per cent record in Serie A with two victories over Atalanta and Carpi.
Summer signing Stevan Jovetic has scored all three of their goals.
