Mancini: ‘Roma or Napoli Scudetto’
By Football Italia staff
Inter Coach Roberto Mancini says Roma and Napoli are the Scudetto favourites and reveals he tried to sign Paul Pogba while at Manchester City.
The Nerazzurri boss has started the season strongly, with five straight wins before a heavy 4-1 defeat to Fiorentina at San Siro on Sunday.
“The league is definitely more balanced now, but everything will be clearer after 12 or 13 rounds,” he said to Il Messaggero.
“Inter’s objective is to reach the Champions League, but because we’re Inter we won’t rule anything out.
“The Scudetto? Roma and Napoli are the best equipped to win it.
“Juve in crisis? I didn’t expect it, even though having lost three players of the calibre of Tevez, Pirlo and Vidal, I knew that they would have a negative backlash.
“What are ten points to Juventus? When I was at City, six rounds from the end of the season we were eight points behind United yet we won the title.
“Kondogbia isn’t better than Pogba at the moment, also because he’s only in his first year in Italy.
“But Kondogbia has the potential to become a great player.
“Pogba to City? It’s true, when he was freed from United, I asked for him but it all came to nothing. I don’t know why.”
