Icardi: 'Juve perfect to come back'
By Football Italia staff
Inter striker Mauro Icardi says he came to Inter 'to win everything', and believes Juventus are 'perfect to come back' to first place.
The Nerazzurri need to bounce back after making one point in two games before the break, and this Sunday's Derby d'Italia against the Bianconeri provides them with a special opportunity.
“I married Inter with only one objective in mind: winning everything,” he told Il Secolo XIX.
“This is a glorious club but they're emerging from years in which they didn't win anything.
“When I signed my extension until 2019 I fixed my mind on bringing the club back where it belongs.”
Icardi also discussed the terrible 4-1 defeat to Fiorentina in Week 6, who have now kicked them out of first place.
“We changed our way of playing, then everything immediately went wrong.
“There was the penalty, the red card for Miranda, I tried interfering with their game but to no effect. It was their night.
“Now the Bianconeri are perfect to come back.
“Nobody in Italy expected them to start off this way, but we'll see where they are at the end. [Andrea] Pirlo, [Arturo] Vidal and [Carlos] Tevez were their pillars and they're definitely feeling their absence.
“[Juventus striker Paulo] Dybala? We could have played together at Inter, then Juventus signed him. This means he has great quality, which you'll see soon... but hopefully not on Sunday!”
