Medel: ‘Inter believe in third’
By Football Italia staff
Gary Medel says Inter “believe we can finish third” and were “almost perfect” against Juventus.
The Nerazzurri are currently fifth in Serie A after a difficult start to 2016, but appear to have turned the corner with a 3-1 win over Palermo following a 3-0 Coppa Italia win over the Bianconeri.
“The 3-0 Coppa Italia win over Juventus was an almost-perfect match,” Medel told Inter Channel, though Roberto Mancini’s side went out on penalties.
“That’s definitely been one of my favourites. Then there’s the Roma match I scored in, but the main thing is that the team wins. Whether I score or another team-mate does isn’t that important. We believe we can finish third.”
The Chilean is in his second season with the Beneamata, and his versatility has been a key option for the side.
“I’m really happy at Inter and I get on very well with my team-mates, the boss and the whole coaching team.
“It’s great to know that the Coach has confidence in me, but all of my team-mates play important roles in the squad.
“I usually play either in midfield or at the back so I’ve not scored many for Inter, but in the past when I’ve played further forwards I’ve got a few goals too.”
