Icardi: ‘Recovery going well’
By Football Italia staff
Inter striker Mauro Icardi assures his “recovery is going well” and the race for third-place is “still open”.
The Argentinian forward has missed the Nerazzurri’s last two games with a ligament injury, but could return to face Torino.
“The recovery is going well, I’ve been working for a week-and-a-half now,” Icardi told Inter Channel.
“Torino? In Italian football every match is difficult, you should never underestimate your opponents.
“Last year’s match is still fresh in the memory, when we lost the game on a corner in the last minute.”
Roberto Mancini’s men missed the chance to close the gap to Roma in third before the international break, but Icardi still believes Champions League qualification is possible.
“We have to think about doing well, as we had been doing until January. There was a decline, but in the game against Juventus we relied on our pride and rediscovered what we can do.
“The Roma draw? The team played well, we could have won and taken home all three points. Everything is still open though, there are a lot of points to play for.”
