Icardi: ‘Inter must finish fourth’
By Football Italia staff
Mauro Icardi describes Inter’s aims as “finish fourth, have a great pre-season and improve”.
The Nerazzurri are all-but out of the reckoning for the Champions League, as they trail Roma by seven points with just four games to play.
Coach Roberto Mancini refused to rule out a third-place finish, but the Beneamata captain wants to consolidate their current position.
“The game we lost against Genoa was forgotten right away,” Icardi told reporters at a Deutsche Bank event.
“We have another match [against Udinese] and we have to do well. There are four games to go, we have to get fourth. That’s our focus right now.
“The second half of the season? There are so many games we played well in the first half of the season, including against Udinese, we were positioned better in the table.
“Now we just have to get as many points as possible between now and the end of the season, finish fourth, have a great pre-season in the summer and improve.”
