Inter: 25m for Berardi
By Football Italia staff
Inter make a 25m offer for Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi, viewed as an alternative to Lazio's Antonio Candreva.
The 21-year-old is largely considered to be one of the most promising young Italians and has recently turned down Juventus, one of his long-time suitors.
Multiple sources, including La Gazzetta dello Sport and Alfredo Pedulla, are reporting of a heavy-handed move by the Nerazzurri in an effort to bring the player to Milan.
Apparently they have offered Sassuolo 25m to let go of their star, whilst Berardi would earn 2.5m per season over five years. Unlike Juventus, they are willing to offer him a starter's shirt.
The youngster is viewed as a preferable alternative to Lazio's Candreva, for whom president Claudio Lotito is also requesting 25m, but who is 29-years-old and thus not comparable as a long-term investment.
Inter are only willing to offer 16m plus bonuses for the Biancoceleste, and their move for Berardi may have the after-effect of convincing Lotito to lower the price.
Berardi is also useful in terms of meeting Europa League and Serie A requirements for Italian players within the squad.
