Mancini: ‘Not concerned by Icardi’
By Football Italia staff
Inter Coach Roberto Mancini assures Mauro Icardi is “working hard” in training - “the rest doesn’t concern me”.
The striker’s wife and agent, Wanda, has been very vocal in recent days, warning the Nerazzurri that he could leave the club without an improved contract.
“He’s working hard,” Mancini shrugged in a Press conference from the pre-season training camp in Brunico.
“The rest doesn’t concern me. He's training, and he's committed, I don't care what is said on the outside.
"I don't read the newspapers and I don't watch TV, what counts is that he can score 20 goals.
"Everyone is working very well, they’re all committed to the maximum. So it’s all good.”
Mancini was then asked about the Beneamata’s goals for the coming season, and the Coach believes that Juventus are still Scudetto favourites.
“They’ve reinforced despite losing [Alvaro] Morata, but anything can happen in football. They’re certainly still the favourites.
“Last year we were at the top for a long time, the base is there and it’s good. When you make changes it’s not easy, the new players need time to acclimatise. We’re not missing much to be complete.
“Serie A should have four teams with the chance of getting into the Champions League, we want to improve on last year.
“It’s hard to say where we can get at this point.”
