Santon has Napoli option

Napoli have emerged as surprise contenders for Inter’s Davide Santon, reports suggest.

The full-back was on the verge of joining English Premier League side Sunderland, but the deal collapsed at the last minute, ostensibly over a disagreement about a relegation clause.

Now Alfredo Pedulla and CalcioNapoli24 are reporting that the Partenopei are close to a deal for the Nerazzurri defender.

It’s believed Coach Maurizio Sarri is an admirer of Santon, and a deal can be completed for between   6m and   7m.

The Vesuviani were expected to go for Silvan Widmer of Udinese, but Santon would represent a lower-cost option.
