Napoli might not replace Higuain
By Football Italia staff
There is a theory that Napoli won’t sign anyone to replace Gonzalo Higuain, as they trust Manolo Gabbiadini and Arkadiusz Milik.
The Partenopei lost the Argentine to Juventus for his 90m release clause after shattering Serie A records with 36 goals in 35 games last season.
Mauro Icardi was the main target to be his heir, but Inter have turned down the latest 62m proposal.
Other options include Milan’s Carlos Bacca, Nikola Kalinic of Fiorentina and Juventus striker Simone Zaza, but CalcioNapoli24 have a different theory – that nobody will replace Higuain.
They suggest pre-season training convinced Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli to focus everything on Gabbiadini and Milik.
Above all, Milik has thoroughly impressed his new club after his 32m transfer from Ajax.
The 22-year-old Poland international has been dubbed the new Robert Lewandowski in his homeland.
